Mississippi  Emergency Rental Assistance Programs

Mississippi  ERAP Treasury Programs:

Governor Tate Reeves has directed Mississippi’s Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) funding from The U.S. Department of Treasury to be administered by Mississippi Home Corporation. The funding will expand the income limit eligibility to assist more Mississippians who have been impacted by COVID-19.

Mississippi  CARES+ Programs:

Mississippi Home Corporation has announced RAMP—a program to provide rental assistance to eligible Mississippians in need. MHC will be partnering with MUTETH, Inc., Central MS Continuum of Care, and the Open Doors Homeless Coalition to administer the nearly $8 million program for the State of Mississippi to carry out Emergency Solutions Grant activities authorized by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).

The Mississippi Legislature passed a bill to divert $20 million in Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds, which had been earmarked for small businesses, to residential and commercial landlords who have lost rent revenue after various eviction moratoriums. Mississippi Development Authority will administer the grants, up to $30,000, and no more than 25% may go to commercial properties. Seventy-five percent of the funds ($15 million) will be allocated for residential purposes to citizens, via application through their landlords, who have fallen on hard times. This program will erase rental debts through the end of the year. The remainder ($5 million) will go toward commercial purposes, helping small business owners realize income where they would have had significant losses.

Governor Tate Reeves has directed the use of $38 million in Community Development Block Grant funds to Mississippi Home Corporation and Mississippi Development Authority to be used to provide additional rental assistance to the Rental Assistance for Mississippians Program (RAMP). The additional funds will expand the income limit eligibility to assist more Mississippians in need.
